Get Me Some Happy
Get Me Some Happy
A twelve pack would get me happy
Some nights I’d drink and fade to black
On the road of excess, I came to a fork
An angry man rode on my back
One branch led to stoned and blind
I took the path that left the drunk behind
Now sometimes I get me some happy
Lifts my heart, sits down on my shoulder
Shows up when I don’t expect it
Smiles in the eye of the beholder
“You saved me!” the young man exclaimed.
Years ago he lost his way one night
He said I listened and stayed as we talked until dawn
As morning gave him the light
I must admit it was a dim memory
But his joy told him to share it with me
Now sometimes I get me some happy
Lifts my heart, sits down on my shoulder
Shows up when I don’t expect it
Smiles in the eye of the beholder
Happy wind blowing love on my face
Riding sleds through the snows of December
The taste of a Hanover tomato
Reminds me of summers I forgot to remember
Sometimes I get me some happy
Lifts my heart, sits down on my shoulder
Shows up when I don’t expect it
Smiles in the eye of the beholder
