Ghosts of Centre Hill

Ghosts of Centre Hill

Ghosts of Centre Hill

Mrs. Pryor hears a melody echo in the halls
Coming from a room below, vibrates in the walls
Sounding so familiar, she begins to hum
She sings it for friends, no one knows what it is from

Hear whispers on the stairs
A rush of air leaves a chill
Living in the shadows
The ghosts of Centre Hill

There’s a woman standing the room, young boy calls
her friend
He sees the chair behind her, voice like silent wind
While they sit and talk, he thinks he’d like to be her brother
Leaves the world quite young, comes to join her and the others

Hear whispers on the stairs
A rush of air leaves a chill
Living in the shadows
The ghosts of Centre Hill

Ghost platoon returns each year,
climbs the stairs up to the porch
Follow to the second floor,
hear the rattle of their swords

Lovely woman always dressed in white wanders on the grounds
Looks out on the living world, sees heroes, crooks, and clowns
They see her as a threat, their hearts grip with fright
It's all the same to her, she waves to be polite

Hear whispers on the stairs
A rush of air leaves a chill
Living in the shadows
The ghosts of Centre Hill
