That Kind of Love
That Kind of Love
Her smile was like a siren song
Her beauty tied me up in a sailors knot
She led me down to a well of love
I took the risk, fell in, and broke my heart
It was that kind of love
One I dared not resist
Though it wouldn’t last
It could not be dismissed
She met my friends, I met her clan
We moved into our place, then things fell apart
A dead end street with only one way out
Her tears poured down my shirt, and fell on my heart
It was that kind of love
One I dared not resist
Though it wouldn’t last
It could not be dismissed
In a dream, in a room filled with people.
Some I’d loved and pushed away.
There she stood, her eyes were smiling
Her heart was calling asking me to stay
That shirt now somehow hangs on my chair
Was sure I lost it long ago in a borrowed car
I hold it to my face, breathe in the past
Let go the fear I felt when I ran from her heart
It was that kind of love
One I dared not resist
Though it wouldn’t last
It could not be dismissed
