You Are Always There
You Are Always There
Reaching down between the river rocks
Your rapids flow around my hand
You know it’s time for me to go
Your warm farewell says you understand
I jump the spots your waters fill
Your spirit follows me up the hill
You are always there
You are always there
Though the twilight steals the light of day
The Purple shade of the sky still glows
Evening street lights soften the dusk
Unseen ghosts cause shadows to show
I think of all the places you have been
While you rush ahead to ages unforeseen
You are always there
You are always there
You never see a problem
When rocks appear to block you
You roll and flow around and over
Using them to get you through
Chirping birds sing to the query of the owl
Fresh mowed grass echoes the crickets call
I feel you still with me, I’m almost home
Your voice rings strong when you clear the falls
Arriving at my doorstep, everything feels right
I hear you force of nature as you whisper goodnight
You are always there
You are always there
